A lovely retired couple owned a beautiful split-level home in the Edmonds Bowl. They originally hoped to add onto their home for the purpose of installing an elevator. They contacted Northlight Custom Builders, LLC to get this project done. As it turned out, there were restrictions on the lot that did not allow for the expansion of the footprint of the home. They truly enjoyed living there, but the two-story configuration was just not meeting their needs any longer due to their health and mobility issues and the stairs. The couple asked Andrea to help them sell their current home.
Andrea and team sold their home quickly, and focused all efforts on finding them a one-story home in Edmonds so that they could live comfortably and age in place. They were lucky enough to beat out five other offers on a darling rambler located behind Maplewood School that met their needs perfectly. A total bonus was that it was located within a quarter-mile from their only son with whom they are very close! A win-win!!
The home was in need of updating and expansion, so they reached out to Northlight again to formulate a plan.
Northlight worked with the homeowners; along with a local Edmonds architect, to create an expanded floor plan that included a new addition for a dining room and large primary suite. Also, the remainder of the home was largely modified, brought up to code, and made made to be more user friendly with new finishes. This included a barrier free front walkway and covered porch, a private exterior sitting area in the rear, wide doorways, and a beautifulspacious kitchen. This all made the move-in, useability and comfort of the home spectacular.
Together Windermere and Northlight were able to make this couple's needs and new dreams come true. It's an honor for us all to be involved in this project from beginning to end. We feel privileged to be able to help our friends and neighbor's through whatever housing life-change there may be on their horizon.
